CRE Apps site stats for 2012

I have been amazed by Coy Davidson’s willingness to share his blog stats. My first reaction is always, “Why would Coy share this treasure trove of information??”

Then, it occurred to me. For as much as we gripe and beg for CRE data to become more open and transparent, if we are overly protective of our own statistics, folks might as well lump us in with the rest of the CRE Dinosaurs.

So, without further ado… here is a link to CRE Apps’ Annual Report provided by Jetpack by WordPress. (If you have a WordPress blog and don’t use Jetpack, you should check it out.)

A couple highlights -

Number of posts in 2012: 90 (1.7 per week)

Number of views: 40,000 (769 per week)

One other interesting point, is that while 769 views per week may seem a bit low, when we first started blogging, traffic was minuscule.  Since then, traffic has seemed to double every 3 to 4 months, with no slow down in sight…

What were our 5 most viewed posts?

  1. Top 3D Viewers for iPad / iPhone
  2. Five Must Have Apps for Leasing Brokers
  3. Box verses Dropbox: What’s best for CRE?
  4. The CRE Map Wars have begun!
  5. Ten Eight: Yelp for Office Buildings

Which sites referred the most traffic?

  1. Twitter
  2. DukeLong.com
  3. LinkedIn
  4. Facebook
  5. Paper.li

This was mind blowing to me that a one-person blog beat out LinkedIn and Facebook. (Note to self: Stay on Duke’s good side….)

Finally, many thanks to our top commentors Jason Sandquist and Chase Pursley. They both had some great insights, and we appreciate their participation.

    Dominic,
Please please keep this site going. It provides a very valuable service to commercial real estate. I understand the time and effort it takes to maintain a site and you do it all for free.
    God Bless my friend.

Great stuff, Dominic – the exponential growth has had an impact on the industry. Hey there, Jimmy Stewart fans – here’s something to consider… what if CRE Apps were never born? What apps would you be missing? What impact would that have on your current productivity and ability to get deals done? More difficult to measure than site traffic to be sure, but worth consideration.

Thankfully, CRE Apps was born and continues to hit growth spurts.

Before I get too misty-eyed, I just want to thank you, Dominic, for reaching out to me and the CRE community in 2012.

      All the Best!

    Wow, that’s 6x in a year!

    • Dominic Zabriskie January 12, 2013 at 5:06 pm #

Yeah, but considering we started at nearly zero, it is easy to grow at 6x per year. It will be interesting if we can maintain this growth rate in 2013. I sure hope so.

Love the upward trend. You are a great resource and I think it’s about time technology transformed the industry. That’s what brought me back to CRE after so many years. Change is happening and thank you for keeping us on top of it!
